Site Shed Planner (illustrative)

A rough quantity and cost estimator for a simple steel-frame site shed with cement storage.

This is not a structural design. It estimates quantities and rough costs only. It does not check the frame, foundation, bracing, anchorage, or wind, snow and earthquake loads. Kumaon is a high-seismic, high-wind region, so have the design and the foundation checked by a licensed structural engineer, and confirm local bye-laws, before you build or buy anything.

Each total is rounded to the nearest rupee and the estimated total is the sum of the rows. Steel and cladding include a 10% waste allowance. Quantities depend on the assumptions listed below the table.

Foundation or floor slab, base plates and anchors, any bracing, doors and windows, gutters and flashing, insulation, electrics, transport, labour, GST, permits and the engineer's fee.

Cement storage

Follow your cement supplier's and BIS stacking guidance. Shorter stacks reduce hardening under load.

  • Store on a dry floor slab or a firm, drained base, never on a raised steel floor unless a structural engineer has designed it for the load.
  • Lay a polythene sheet under the pallets, keep pallets off the walls, and cover the stack.
  • Leave an air gap from the walls, because damp air condenses on steel sheets.
  • Interlock the bags in alternate directions, layer by layer.
